August is here, and with it comes the annual summer slowdown in news for Long Island City. Aside from a local house fire and the onward march of real estate development, there isn’t much to dig into, despite a dozen or so stories linked to below. It looks like I’ll have to create my own content come next week, for now though, I’ll just remind you of two local events this weekend.
The Lot LIC concert series begins Saturday at 5pm in Court Square. It’s free and catered by M. Wells Steakhouse, so you can rock out and pig out simultaneously.
Live Shakespeare in Gantry State Park, Two Gentlemen of Verona, also occurs Saturday evening at 7:30. It too is free, but you will have to do your own catering.
