On this day 50 years ago, The Beatles played Forest Hills Stadium. While their date at Shea a year later would garner a lot more press, something very interesting occurred after their first Queens date that very well may have had a bigger influence on their music and on the 1960’s. After the show, they were introduced to Bob Dylan for the very first time back at their hotel. In addition to supposedly mocking their then sappy lyrics, which they very much took to heart, that night he also acquainted them with marijuana. Judge for yourself the effect it had on their direction henceforth1, what’s most relevant to this site is that they played Queens instead of Manhattan …fifty years ago.
