I was unable to attend last week’s town hall liquor license meeting, due to my being away for Spring Break on some beach getting really sunburned. By all accounts it sounds like a few residents got out their pitchforks and torches to cut the knees off of a few small businesses, while the silent majority1 will just be denied the pleasure of a few new and interesting restaurants.
Of greater interest, according to the LIC Post, is that two of the five restaurants withdrew their applications and have decided not to open. Those two being the Mediterranean restaurant at the corner of Jackson and Vernon, and LIC Food & Spirits on 46th Road.
In non-restaurant news:
Next Thursday, join Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, State Senator Michael Gianaris, and Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan at a town hall meeting to discuss the 22 consecutive weekends of closures and annual ongoing service disruptions. Carmen Bianco, President of MTA NYC Transit, will be on hand to hear your concerns and field your questions.
