The group portrait above was taken at the closing of the Jeffrey Leder Gallery last week. The event was also a reunion of his friends from the LIC area and represents the end of a time when many artists lived in the neighborhood and knew each other through the grapevine. With all the big and rapid changes occurring in the area, the artists are slowly fading away. The bleached look of the polaroid, combined with the older ages of the attendees and their pre-hipster attire, embodies the end of an era for Long Island City.
