When it’s 55 degrees in June it’s chilly, when it’s 55 degrees in January it’s balmy, go figure. Either way it’s expected to warm up and get sunny in the next few days so enjoy these upcoming outdoor activities.
LIC Summer Block Party – tomorrow, June 8 from 3-5pm on Center Boulevard between Borden and 54th Ave. Live Music, Bouncy Houses, Games & Activities for children of all ages. Hosted by New-City Church and open to all.
Run For The Oceans – tomorrow, June 8 @ at LIC Landing. It looks like the Adidas-sponsored night-time 5k race is already booked, but there will be a concert by Pusha T after the run.
Free Yoga – every Monday and Thursday at 7pm at LIC Landing led by yogi Melissa Lomax
INSITU Site-Specific Dance Festival – not until July 8-9 when it arrives on the LIC waterfront like a herd of buffalo: 24 choreographers and companies have created new works in response to the urban and natural environments of four public parks along the Western Queens waterfront, Hunters Point South Park, Gantry Plaza State Park, Queensbridge Park and Socrates Sculpture Park. Over the 2-day, 14 hour event, performers will maneuver through playgrounds, appear in hidden corners, and dance on piers, staircases, and shorelines. The festival is free and open to the public, offering audiences a fresh and exciting way to experience contemporary dance in public spaces.
