New Field In Hunters Point? Sure, Why Not?
The LIC Post reports that the city is preparing an RFP for the final two parcels of land in Hunters Point South along the waterfront. While the development of these adjacent plots into massive residential towers has been all but set in stone, in light of recent movements a sprinkling of dissenters has sprung up calling for an alternative.

“And just remember, the best thing about kids… is making them!”
“Bring us a pitcher of beer every seven minutes until somebody passes out. And then bring one every ten minutes.”

WILL kids be going back to NYC public schools this upcoming Monday? Absolutely not because it’s Yom Kippur. So it’s shul for some and a good beach day for others. Come Tuesday, who knows? Which is a phrase that sums up many fall traditions now that Autumn has arrived. Will there be trick or treating and a parade on Halloween? Who knows? Will there be a Columbus Day parade? Who knows, and possibly not ever again in NYC – but public schools will be closed. Will there be family get-together’s on Thanksgiving? Who knows …but it will still take place on the fourth Thursday in November, there will be a lot of turkey on the plate and Lions and Cowboys on TV, and no school. A NYC Marathon gracing Vernon Boulevard? Not in 2020. Christmas sales and decorations and caroling in early November? Highly likely. Oktoberfest? CORRECTION: The Real Deal has just amended their story and forgot to include that the 2nd tower, of 56-stories, had previously been filed in October. Thus the plan is basically in its original form of 1000+ units, plus school, and maybe a Shake Shack. Never mind.
TF Cornerstone has taken a big knife to their plans for Parcel C in Hunters Point South according to The Real Deal. The latest iteration contains only ~400 units in a single 46-story tower versus 1,200 units in a pair of 55 & 44-story towers [Read more…] about TF CORNERSTONE GREATLY SLASHES HUNTERS POINT SOUTH PLANS
SHAKE SHACK COMING TO HUNTERS POINT SOUTH?
Well maybe, but that’s not the real story. Instead, the LIC Post is reporting that a complete redesign of Hunters Point South’s Parcel C was unveiled last night at a Community Board 2 Land Use meeting. Most significantly, the towers will now rise to 55 and 44 stories from a previous 41 and 35 stories in the original plan shared in 2013. The other significant design change from that plan, is that the structure will no longer run uninterrupted along Center Boulevard, which effectively made it one mammoth building with two peaks. Instead it will be broken up with a Center Boulevard (and Oval and Manhattan) facing open area filled with greenery, art installations, and a food pavilion. It’s in that pavilion that one of the presenters last night threw out the name Shake Shack [Read more…] about SHAKE SHACK COMING TO HUNTERS POINT SOUTH?
