The fat lady is clearing her throat. According to the Times Ledger, the demolition of 5Pointz will begin in August per the owner Jerry Wolkoff. He also stated that he expects the two 40+ story rental towers to be completed in 2016. Someday will we gaze upon the towers and think of them as the majestic gateway to Queens as we did with 5Pointz? Highly unlikely, but what can we do?

Men and women in blue suede shirts emblazoned with the logo “Tenant King” have invaded LIC. What is Tenant King? Basically a community bulletin board for Long Island City.
We wrote about the company’s local founders and provenance back in March. Four months later and we noticed their young employees canvassing the town, promoting the site, and signing up users.
