THE Pro Bowl is this Sunday, a game which is almost as exciting and hard-hitting as the local news this week. Oh sure, we could add some filler by regurgitating innocuous articles about Queens in general or elaborating on vapid press releases. Much as the NFL does with meaningless ‘Battle of the Network Stars’ type contests the day before with players competing in muscle-bulging tank-tops and too much of a smile. Or we could do rote interviews with our sponsors, much like the NFL does with those players in attendance – none of whom will be participating in the actual Super Bowl – about who will win the big game.

Signage is up and the menu has been revealed for American Brass, a new restaurant being built out on the corner of 49th Avenue and Center Boulevard. Previously occupied by the Riverview Restaurant for close to a decade, the highly visible location with a large sidewalk seating section has been under wraps for almost two years. The new owners are the management team behind Maiella.

Dorian’s Diner at 10-01 50th Avenue has closed. Located at the heavily trafficked intersection of Vernon Boulevard and 50th Avenue by the Manhattan-bound entrance of the 7-train, the restaurant was dark this evening. According to a note on the door they decided to no longer remain open for a number of unmentioned reasons.
