We have long contended that upzoning alone does not produce new housing, it’s the economy stupid. Nothing confirms this more than the also not-unexpected news that the 3200-unit Innovation QNS project was scrapped almost three years after it was approved. Why? The economy stupid. It’s cooled, or lukewarm, possibly simmering, but not hot enough to build in a marginal location. Which ex the Plaxall properties OneLIC largely is. You might get a few loosies, but far from a new skyline a la Court Sq/Queens Plaza.
