IZAKAYA Noname has opened at 46-44 Vernon Boulevard, the former home of sushi restaurant Murasaki.
Per a stencil on the front window, it serves Japanese street food. Which translates to gyoza, takoyaki, and tempura. That’s not all, broiled yellowtail collar, agedashi tofu, and spicy cucumber are also available. But wait, there’s more: various fish carpaccio’s, ramens, noodles and donburi’s are also on the menu.
As for who, I’ve heard it was opened by the owners of Vietnamese restaurant Cyclo around the corner, who I believe are also the owners of Thai restaurant Tuk Tuk down the street. Whose linkage makes me think of the game of Risk. Next stop Kamchatka?
Anyway, we gave you the where, the what, and the who, which leaves the only remaining question: how is Noname pronounced? No-NAH-may, Mm-mm.

November 15, 2023 at 9:21 pmIs it weird that there are multiple pizza places on the same street that sell pepperoni slices, grandma pizzas, heroes, and pasta, but one place also has more options than another?
Is it weird that there are multiple taco trucks a few blocks apart that both sell tacos, chips and burritos, but one of them sells things the other doesn’t?
Or are some types of restaurants just popular and it’s reasonable to have multiple of them with overlapping menus in an area with tens of thousands of people?
