Once again The New York Times has an article in their Sunday real estate section on LIC, this time with a particular focus on the Court Square area. Do they really need to resort to segmentation of our town? Can’t they find something interesting to say about another outer boro up-n-comer like Bushwick or Red Hook? Or possibly anoint a new ‘hood to look out for, such as Maspeth? Probably not, and I cannot say I blame them. As any astute real estate writer knows it all comes down to the three L’s, and we have them, whether they be Court Square, Hunters Point, or Queens Plaza. The article discusses a lot of projects I have noted, as well as a few new ones I had yet to hear about, and basically concludes that LIC is exploding residentially. Unfortunately, it failed to make any mention whatsoever of the big elephant in the room: an extraordinary gap in public school seating capacity in the neighborhood, even before these projects are completed. Oh well, that’s exactly why you need someone like me: to get All the News That’s Fit to Print about Long Island City!
In the spirit of there being enough already written about our neighborhood, I will pass on links to only two additional stories about LIC today.

September 4, 2012 at 9:10 pmDoes anyone know what is currently being built on the adjacent lot just north of the Powerhouse condominiums?

September 5, 2012 at 9:07 amGood question, just walked by there yesterday and saw the new construction and wondered “How high are they going to build whatever it is they are building there?” The lot lines are directly in front of all the Powerhouses windows as well as the building next to it.
