Well the news is still slow when it comes to LIC, we have a total of three articles today and the third is a stretch, but maybe that is because the holidays are seemingly in full swing. Center Boulevard has some new and tasteful holiday lights on its lampposts, and with them comes the cold and omnipresent winds off the river, as winter is finally evincing its presence. Thus, I too will spare you any lengthy dissertations so you can spend more time with your loved ones, new or old. Just one word of advice: bundle-up!
After Sandy, Some NYC Parks Stay Shut – TV interview about Shady Park, aka Andrew’s Grove, or is it the other way around?
A Battle of LIC’s New Luxury Condos – hmm, not really sure it’s apples to apples
School Rezoning’s Border Wars – it always comes back to the school issue. Want to know exactly what powers and influences a CEDC(Community Education Council) actually has and does not have? Then this is your article.

November 26, 2012 at 2:46 pmI am not sure reopening Shady Park is of the utmost priority right now. Seems to me other matters, specifically people and their damaged or destroyed homes, are more pressing and worthy of the governments and city workers attention. But I guess the news needs something to report on as maybe that story is getting a little too stale for them.

November 26, 2012 at 8:15 pmDoes anyone know why so many of the trees in Shady Park specifically blew down? Obviously a lot of trees went down all over the northeast, but the clusting at Shady seems unusual, especially since it is away from the river winds and buffeted by several buildings. Might it have to do with their root system and it possibly not being very deep?

November 27, 2012 at 5:51 pmI don’t know why so many trees specifically in Shady Park blew down, but the effect come summer will be magnified by the location of the trees that did go down: all of them on the south side and center, none on the north side which do little to protect from the sun.
