SOMETIMES coming in on a Friday yields tremendous dividends. Even in July. Today I clicked on my AOL account to see that I had mail. The letter I received announced that “The Greats of Craft is opening a brand-new location on the LIC waterfront, right by the Pepsi sign.”
To be more specific, it will be located on the northern corner of 47-20 Center Boulevard next to Shi, and formerly the home of BLVD Wine Bar and its reincarnation into something that didn’t last very long. By ‘Craft,’ we’re not talking Tom Colicchio, it’s craft beer. And coffee, and wine. and spirits, and food. For additional reference stop by their other location in LIC which opened 15 months ago. Or checkout their website below, but you had me at Craft. Beer, that is.
//’GIVE me two dogs, four beers and a pretzel.’ Want any Henges with that? Sure I’ll take two. You got it. ManhattanHenge returns to LIC this weekend and unlike its last appearance, the weather is looking pretty good (clear). So grab that Instamatic and make like Weegee by snapping a pic or two.
Tonight (July 11) we get the full sun in the ‘grid,’ tomorrow the half sun. Sunset is 8:27pm, get there ~20 minutes early just in case.
//SUMMER Kids hosted by Hunters Point Parks Conservancy (HPPC) is returning July 7 to August 17 in Hunter’s Point South Park and Gantry Plaza State Park. Every day, HPPC will host a family friendly program for kids under 10 at 10am. All events are free, and you can register to receive event notifications and updates in case of inclement weather. The registration link is available on HPPC’s website, hunterspointparks.org.
Last year, over 3,700 people attended HPPC’s free summer kid programming. This year, HPPC is continuing its popular programs with music, movement, and art offerings to give families fun options to spend time together, and help neighborhood kids have free activities that get them outside and engaging in their parks.
//HELLO Jasper. “Residents have started moving into Jasper, a mixed-use development in the heart of Long Island City comprising 499 new homes” announced an email letter I received on my new Yahoo account. Note to our new neighbors: Read LICtalk, for up-to-date news on Long Island City.

Ah, the cursed spot. Hopefully it will be a good space — the end of Alewife as a multi-brewer craft beer-focused spot (and then its departure) is still felt. Love Rockaway and 5th Hammer, but I miss an interesting national tap list.
