HAPPY New Year Long Island City! Or maybe not, as the lifeline of LIC will be down every weekend in January. Not a good start!
Don’t ask for details, track work etc., we get these service outages every year, usually more than once, except during the Mets season. And for those sweating the small stuff, no it’s not out completely, just between Queensborough Plaza and all stops in Manhattan = not relevant to readers.
In the big picture not a big deal. Especially as I read about 150 Sunnyside residents forced to leave their homes for an indeterminate period due to an apartment fire. Nor is an earthquake in Astoria that occurred this week. Oh sure, it was only a 1.7 and wasn’t even felt one town south (here). But if you lived one town west, in Roosevelt Island City (tee-hee), you may have had your power knocked out.
What other surprises lurk for LIC in 2024? I haven’t a clue, but I will report them as soon as they unfold. As importantly, I’ll screen for any stories that are more noise than news, and leave them on the cutting floor, unlike others. For you dear readers, for you, I recognize that your time is important.
