A new restaurant will be opening on 44th Road in Long Island City under the aegis of Mark Rancourt, a co-owner of Extra Fancy in Williamsburg. Extra Fancy describes itself as a “Crab-shack-chic eatery serving New England-style seafood plates, upscale sandwiches, creative cocktails & craft beer.” I would describe it as crab shack meets Brother Jimmy’s down on the bayou in the 1980’s (given the soundtrack when I went).
No word as to whether this new restaurant will mimic the one in Williamsburg, but rumor has it that it will be a large space with seating both indoors and outdoors and three bars.
In addition, I believe the actual location will be 10-29 44th Road, which is located in the industrial area ~1.5 blocks east of the Wyndham Garden Hotel on Vernon Blvd.
Whatever type of restaurant they open, one menu item that fish-lovers, meat-eaters, and vegans will all agree is not-to-be missed is the buffalo cauliflower – I’ll be eating a bucket for Superbowl.
