Live Music Is Better – Neil Young
I’d like to tell you that there’s no pic with today’s story as a continued protest for not having fireworks on the East River. The reality though is that I have actually been vacationing all Fourth of July week on the Croatian coast with my good friends Leo and George. Yet based on the information I have provided below, there really is no reason to leave LIC this summer, as there is a lot going on right here.
Live at The Gantries – every Tuesday at 7pm, starting July 9th. The 2013 schedule has just been released. Check it out here, and just like Woodstock, it’s BYOB.
Summerstage Queens – if the sounds and locale of the above are a little too tepid, head uptown to Queensbridge Park. Some good and free shows happening there, just BYOB
Sage General Store Now Open For Dinner – newly remodeled and w/ a revamped dinner menu. For the time being it’s BYOB, and conveniently Court Square Wine is next door.
Turned On: Erotic Art Exhibition – need I say more? Well straight from the horses mouth “We invite gallery visitors to ‘Turn On’ and explore sensuality by letting go of all inhibitions and celebrating eroticism.” This exhibit is at a performance space next to 5Pointz, and the opening reception is July 6th from 6-10pm. BYOB or not, I’m there!
The Battle to Bring Back the Fireworks to the East River – lots of local businesses mentioned
Politicians Blast West Side Fireworks – must have read my letter on Monday!

July 5, 2013 at 1:21 pmThat art exhibit seems to be a flimsy ruse for lots of nudity. As any good promoter knows, nothing attracts a crowd like sex.

July 6, 2013 at 11:23 amForget about all the things going on in LIC this summer, we need a park with shade!

July 7, 2013 at 11:29 amPlus the sprinklers at Rainbow Park are not on, so that park is of zero use.

July 8, 2013 at 1:46 pmDoes anyone know what happened to Adam the fruit man? There is a sign on his cart that says “Closed until further notice”, and all the fruit is loosely covered w/ a cover.
