Get out your “Che Guevara” t-shirts, pitchforks, and left handed cigarettes, The Bernie Sanders Show is coming to Hunters Point South Park this Monday, April 18. In addition to “The Man” himself, TV on the Radio will be providing musical entertainment, and he’ll also be bringing along a few of his good friends including Danny Glover and Fisher Stevens. Real estate recaptures the headlines this week. Notably the LIC Partnership held it’s 11th Annual Real Estate Breakfast this morning. I’ve noted before how it’s always a sold out crowd, and how it’s become more about networking ((this years attendees included Melinda Katz and Carolyn Maloney – who like most politicians have a nose for constituents and ~~money~~ developers)) than knowledge, as the rest of the city/planet has caught up with the Long Island City phenomenon since I first started reporting on this event four breakfasts ago. Thus it’s largely a victim of its own success.

The iconic St. Mary’s Church on Vernon Boulevard will be knocked down to make way for a luxury residential tower according to plans filed with the NYC Department of Buildings yesterday. The proposal calls for a 62-story “pinner” building – one that’s very tall and very narrow – with many of the apartments full-floor 4-bedrooms with keyed access.
