DOES Spring sprung in LIC if LICtalk has yet to declareth so? Ahh the existential questions of our times, but most say ‘No’ it doesn’t, and many mark their internal body clocks upon the release of the headline. Some even choose to revisit every ‘Sprung’ post, longing for the nostalgia of LIC past. While others, we’ll call them the ‘cynics,’ view this title as an attempt to make news out of nothing.

BUBBLE tea mania continued this weekend as throngs lined up for the grand opening of Teazzi Tea Shop in Court Square. Located in the Hayden residential tower at 43-25 Hunter St., it’s the third location for this franchise. Other than that I don’t know what to say about this phenomenon.

THE legendary Mu Ramen has closed its doors in Long Island City and ‘Kuku Chicken’ has opened in the space. What began as a night-time pop-up in Bricktown Bagels and would take the city by storm has come to a very quiet end.

Or maybe Fort Knox is a better analogy as the famed painting will be coming with a major security detail that will shut down the not-so-major streets surrounding the gallery. How did this extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime event come about and land in Long Island City’s lap? Quite simply, the pandemic!

THE developer who owns the six-acre ‘Lake Vernon’ site on the waterfront has proposed a “green energy hub to power neighboring businesses” according to The New York Post. This was one of the plots originally slated to be tied into the Amazon proposal and the subsequent ‘Master Plan’ concept that arose out of that dissolution, the latter of which subsequently dissolved too for reasons that are still somewhat of a mystery.
