So, Saturday night my friends Tom and Gisele were over for dinner. In addition to marveling at the views from LIC and how well my tuna casserole went with the magnum of 1990 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild that they brought, they wanted to sample the local nightlife. Aghast, I simply did not know where to send them …first. Thankfully, a local news source has compiled a “Best of” list, which while subjective and far from comprehensive(Dutch Kills, LIC Bar?), at least gave me something to write about today. Hey, you gotta love when the work week starts off with two articles about booze.
Long Island City’s 5 Best Happy Hour Bars – how come no one ever mentions P.J. Leahy’s?
The New Queens Suds Buzz – includes a short profile on LIC’s Rockaway Brewing Co.
Views of a Vibrant Queens – WSJ’s house of the week is in LIC and will only make you jealous …unless you buy it
The Story of a FreshDirect Order – fascinating one-pager on how and where your FreshDirect order is assembled here in LIC

February 27, 2013 at 9:59 amYou should have just put Tom and Gisele into their limo and pointed the driver towards Manhattan.

February 27, 2013 at 11:53 amI love how reporters come into LIC and do “drive-by” reporting. It’s so obvious they don’t live in the neighborhood to those of us who do.

February 27, 2013 at 12:44 pmThere may not be alot of nightlife in LIC, but not only do we have such easy access to Manhattan, but Williamsburg is 3 stops on the G train and/or a quick cab ride.

February 27, 2013 at 2:37 pmBe careful what you wish for. With Sweetleaf on Center Blvd serving alcohol, the allowance for sidewalk cafes being implemented turning Skinny’s Cantina into Margaritaville, and Shi already being a semi-niteclub on the weekends, the local nightlife come this summer may not be to everyone’s liking.
