THOUGH relegated to the back pages of the citywide papers, the big news here in LIC was the announcement of an arrest in the shooting death of a 25-year old man on Borden Avenue in early September 2020.
Occurring in broad daylight in a heavily populated residential neighborhood, the shooting was the low point of a tumultuous summer. Things have since quieted down along the waterfront, yet in the ensuing 14 months I’ve often wondered whether the police would ever find a suspect in this horrible killing? Thankfully it looks like they may have, and I hope it gives at least some solace to the parents of the young man who died. That’s bigger than any other local news this week
