A reader has shared the horrible news that a bicyclist was killed in Hunters Point this morning. It apparently occurred around 9am on 2nd Street and Borden Avenue when the rider was hit by a car. Per the photo above it looks like a silver Chrysler sedan remained in the cordoned-off accident site. One witness said she saw emergency personnel performing CPR and getting no response. If correct, this is the second death of a cyclist by car in Hunters Point in under a year, the previous one occurring in May on 21st Street. More details forthcoming, but a very sad day in Long Island City.
According to Patch.com, the victim was a 53-yr old white male who was riding east on Borden when a car going south on 2nd Street struck. AMNY gives the the victim’s name as Robert Spencer, who’s address is 2 mins away from the site.
