THERE’S a party going on and you’re invited! The 22nd Annual Hunters Point Civic Association Community Unity Street Fair will take place this Friday, August 10 between 3pm and 7pm on 49th Avenue in front of Shady Park (aka Andrew’s Grove). It’s free and open to all and given that there will be bouncy houses and balloon animals means it’s kid-centric, as opposed to say the Secret Summer Cocktail Festival taking place this Sunday at the beautiful Foundry event space on Vernon Boulevard. There will be alcohol, live music, food and no kids. Finally, if Friday and Sunday events aren’t enough, there’s always MoMA PS1’s Warm-up Saturday afternoon/evening, which this week features …a whole bunch of DJ’s and musician’s that are probably great but who I’ve never heard of, Go!
//BLOOD Drive – on August 29 from 3pm – 9pm is the 3rd Annual LIC Waterfront-NYBC Blood Drive. This year in particular there is a an acute shortage of blood city and nationwide. Please consider donating especially because it couldn’t be easier. Sign up below.
//AFTER you’ve signed up for the blood drive, you should consider attending Community Night at MoMA PS1 on Monday, August 13. In addition to access to all 10 current exhibitions and this summers Young Architect’s Program installation, there will be complimentary cocktails and light refreshments provided by M. Wells Dinette
