THOUGH it’s not even summer technically, the local news biz has dried up. No reports of Taylor Swift at xyz cafe on Vernon B, with or without Kelcy Travis. No politics, it’s all national/global this week. Oh wait, what do we have here, a local acquisition… contact Goldman Stanley asap, get the head of M&A on the phone, all hands on deck!
“Driving Force Acquires Precision Auto Works of LIC” reads the headline from Komunikaty PR. Delving further:
Driving Force Collision, a portfolio company of TRP Capital Partners, has acquired Precision Auto Works of LIC, a leading multi-shop operator (MSO) with three advanced collision repair facilities in New York City and Long Island. The transaction, finalized in November 2024 and facilitated by Hammer Group Holdings and Zoran Advisors, marks Driving Force’s strategic entry into the Northeast, enhancing its position in the competitive New York and tri-state collision repair market. The announcement was deferred to ensure a seamless integration process.
Look at all the advisory firepower needed for a small body shop on a side street in LIC. I pass by these guys all the time, they are next to and dwarfed by Empire City Ironworks on 46th Rd, and never knew what a player they were. I can only imagine the bordeaux’s that will be served at the closing dinner. Anyway, it’s actually four locations, including a second in LIC half a block in from the Ravenswood plant.
All joking aside, having been in business for almost 30 years (since 1996), and with hours posted as 7am to 5pm Monday-Saturday, these guys have worked hard, and deserve the payout that’s coming to them. That’s the news that we have for you on this late spring day.
//OH wait, here’s a story from April that I missed. LIC native – and former regular on the 48th Avenue basketball courts – who now walks the runways in Paris. When he’s not slinging pizza dough on the LES. Check it out below.

I toss dough at one of the trendiest pizzerias in NYC — now I walk the runways at Paris Fashion Week
So predatory private equity is now hoovering up body shops? Like they’ve done with veterinarians, nursing homes, single family housing, local newspapers, farmland, etc. etc.?
This is NOT good news. Good for the guys getting the one time payout, but for everyone else, service will increase in price and decrease in quality.
