We’d be remiss as chroniclers of all things LIC, were we not to follow up on last weeks post about MPD by giving you the history of the park. And just like I did in high school, I’m going to cut and paste it all from one source and paraphrase and summarize it for you.
Murray Park is named after a dedicated former recreation supervisor for Queens parks. It was done so back in 1948, after the city acquired and “condemned” four parcels of land that contains it, and chipping in a million or two wasn’t the sole route for naming honors.
Fast forward to today, and while you may not be able to have a park named after you, if you do have a few million allocated for a home, you now have the chance to oversee Murray Park. That’s what it will cost to buy one of the coolest apartments available in Long Island City. It’s a tastefully renovated four-bedroom, in a pre-war building right on the park. It has a lot of character, unobstructed views of the park and the city, and a terrace in the back. If you buy it, not only will you have a great home, you’ll get a title as well: the Lord of Murray Park.
