When it rains it pours. Or as they say in France “quand il pleut, il verse.”1 Today we bring you word of a new french bakery scheduled to open in Hunters Point in the late spring. It will be the first expansion for Cannelle Patisserie, and will be located on the ground floor of the Maximilian on 5th Street and 47th Road, across from the playing field. The original store is based in East Elmhurst, and you can check out what they offer in the link below.
After spending a few hours lingering over a croissant, cafe au lait, and Baudelaire, you can make like any self respecting french intellectual and grab your beret, walk across the field, and while away the afternoon at the new wine bar opening up on Center Boulevard next to Shi. This isn’t really new news, but to make it a full day affair, you will have to wait until summer.
Fortunately, you will have the dough2 to spend on doing nothing all day, as a new study reveals that rental apartments in LIC are less expensive than any neighborhood in Manhattan south of 96th Street. Ironically, the Upper East Side came in a close second.
But if after all that you are still feeling flush , then you can purchase some ducats to the PS 78Q PTA Dinner & Fundraiser on May 7. A perfect finish to a perfect day, I’ll take a season-ticket please.
