AS a blog, we have the good fortune to be able to riff on others news. As a blog focused on Long Island City, sometimes that news is sparse, as it has been through most of the summer. This week that is not the case, has the tide turned?
We lead off with a story in The New Yorker about a new restaurant in Dutch Kills called Instant Noodle Factory. Now I must admit that I was pretty dismissive when I first read about this place in July, and didn’t bother to do any follow-up. Either my instincts were poor, or my writing skills were, because the story profile, is very engaging and the restaurant worthy of a try.
Then comes a story in The New York Times about a gay Jewish celebrity chef and the meals he prepares from his sky-high apartment in LIC. Which from the look of things is located in 1 QPS on Queens Plaza South. Mm-mm.
Next up is an article about the creation of the park behind the massive tower Sven in Queens Plaza. And a story about a new 45-story office tower planned for the Grand Central area, which is relevant because it’s more office space one subway stop away which increases demand in LIC. Finally, we leave you with an interesting photo essay with very creative pics of Long Island City.
