PETE Wells, the restaurant critic for The New York Times, has anointed Adda Indian Canteen in Long Island City with two stars in a rave review published yesterday. Making the accomplishment even more impressive is that it was achieved by a casual and very moderately priced establishment in a less-than-ideal location where the owners unsuccessfully tried to bring another new concept less than two years ago (Unicos Tacos). Which basically means Adda is all about the food. Whether it be exotic fare like Kaleji Masala or Bheja Fry (chicken livers and goat brains) or many of the more familiar Indian items like Butter Chicken and Saag Paneer – everything gets a big thumbs up. Read all the gustatory details below, but given the very favorable press it’s received since opening two months ago make sure to check it out before the hordes quickly descend. Like maybe when you’re sick of eating turkey and stuffing?
