IN case you had not noticed, Piatto restaurant on Center Boulevard closed recently.1 Not to worry, your brick oven pizza cravings and a whole lot more will soon be sated when Osteria Brooklyn LIC opens in the next month.
Located at 1-50 50th Avenue, or in reality on Center Boulevard where the entrance actually lies, the restaurant is owned and helmed by Raffaelle Solinas, who owns a similarly named establishment (ex the LIC) in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn.
According to Raffaelle, the menu will also be similar and in addition to pizza will feature entrees such as Bucatini Cacio & Pepe made in a cheesewheel, Salt Baked Branzino, and Pappardelle & Osso Bucco.
Raffaelle is very excited to bring his cooking and hospitality to our neighborhood, because in addition to its vibrancy and growth, it’s also his hometown, having lived in LIC since 2007. His other local connection is with nearby restaurant neighbors Maiella and American Brass, where he previously did stints as the Executive Chef according to his LinkedIn page. Non-local connections include a culinary start in his homeland of Sardinia and you can read more about his path to LIC in his bio in the link below.
As for The Editor, do you what he is excited about? Eating that Osso Buco with a nice chianti (no fava beans) and looking out the window at the NYC skyline. That’s something you won’t get in Brooklyn.
//MoMA PS1 is going to host an exhibit by LIC’s own Teen Art Salon. Or I should say a ‘Protospective’ as MoMA terms it. Opening Day is this Saturday, November 16 from Noon til 6pm and is free to LIC residents. The Protospective will run at MoMA through April 2024, more info below.
