This week is a weird one in NYC, the Jewish holidays(Rosh Hashanah) arrived early and threw the school calendar out of whack. So for possibly the first time ever, NYC public schools will open the second week in September, not the first. Anyone who recognized this quirk, would have been wise to have rented a summer vacation home for the week, as it would have cost you 50% less than the week before, or any week in August.
But the news beat goes on, and when there’s no real news to speak of, and one is too lazy to conjure up something inflammatory, there’s nothing like a few plugs for some local businesses. Let’s start with real estate, as we frequently do. The people over at The Maximilian LIC, a new rental building in Hunters Point(adjacent to the QueensWest field), want you to know that they are now leasing and offering a free month’s rent. Studios start at $1,975, 1-bdrms at $2,475, and 2-bdrms at $3,395. Hopefully the next building they put up they will hire me as a consultant, and in return for a rich retainer, I will be able to whisper the two words that will make their apartments move like Usain: “Three-bedrooms”
Ooh, and while we’re on Usain, the second plug is for a new offering from CrossFit Gantry. Drum roll please ….CrossFit Kids. A match made in LIC heaven!
On Sunday, September 15th, we’ll be running three free intro classes: ages 3-5 from 3-3:30; ages 6-12 from 3:30-4pm; and ages 13-18 from 4-4:30.
Based on my previous post, I’d expect that last class to be a private lesson.
