AS a political junkie I could spend hours deliberating on the implications of new NYC/NYS electoral redistricting’s, but deep down I don’t think it will have a really big impact on the people. My people.
The closing of Stop & Shop is another matter. That will have a real impact on people in terms of their everyday lives, sort of. And not necessarily my people given that it’s located in a Palookaville part of LIC, but I’d still give it a larger weighting than the redistricting in terms of its true impact.
Others may argue that the significant political story was the visit by the President to LIC last week. That would be big! …but alas the visit too was kind of beating a dead horse, taking place in Queensbridge to talk about violence prevention. Plus ca change.
Oh well, at least there’s an interesting and well researched ‘Top 10 Secrets of LIC’ article to dig into.
//ONE market closes in LIC, another opens in LIC! Prestige Marketplace has opened at 4545 Center Boulevard – which is definitely not Palookaville. It’s basically a spiffed-up bodega which in addition to groceries offers fresh made sandwiches, juices, and whatever else a 21st century korean deli-esque typically purveys. Bodega is Korean for 7/11, right?
