I can’t really compete with verdict and Stormy Daniels headlines, but while the mainstream press uses the largest fonts ever, we persevere with news that’s actually relevant. For Long Island City anyway. This week that means restaurants.
First a coupla new ones, or whatever term denotes three-somes. Oh, I guess that is the correct word, as Stormy would know say. Master Rice Noodle opened about a month ago in Court Square, and “specializes in Yunnan Crossing the Bridge noodles” according to Eater NY. The same publication reports that Rice Thief has opened in Dutch Kills and serves Korean crab dishes and seafood stews. Finally, the food court at H Mart in LIC has finally opened with purveyors such as Oh K-Dog (Korean hot dogs), KimGaNae (kimbap), and Rice Boy (rice bowls and not to be confused w/ Rice Thief) and more coming by summer. Well I guess that’s really more than three, but who’s counting? As Stormy would say.
In addition to new openings, comes news that Little Chef, Little Cafe has renovated their location in Hunters Point and now has indoor seating. There, you can “enjoy favorites like Ricotta and Fig Toast; Filipino Adobo Egg and Cheese with chicken or pork; the new Chicks in a Blanket (chicken sausage wrapped in pastry); frittatas; rice bowls;sides of fragrant Garlic Rice and Veggie Ginataan, a Filipino vegetable medley cooked in coconut milk; plus a range of coffees, teas and smoothies, and baked goods like cupcakes, muffins, scones and brookies — brownie cookies!” Mm-mm.
Then, getting out of your LIC comfort zone now that the weather has turned nice, consider walking over the bridge. Pulaski that is. Where you will find the winery and Tasting Room for Hana Makgeolli, the only U.S. producer of Korean Rice Wine. Located on Dupont Street, “tours of the winery, tastings, a full food menu, cocktails, and more are offered. The space is wonderful for all occasions- big groups, anniversaries, or just a chill weekend adventure.”
Finally, once you’ve left the Garden of Eden (LIC), you might as well go all the way. As Stormy would say. To help guide you, we recommend you check out the Top-10 Restaurants in Queens as shared by a well-known food writer who has lived in the borough for 20+ years. It’s a pretty good list, were you to lust for good food.

June 1, 2024 at 12:35 pm10 Best Restaurants in Queens, huh? Just another AWFL showing off how aggressively multi-cultural she is. Not like YOU, bigot. Well, I wouldn’t be caught dead in any of those restaurants. And I eat out at least three nights a week.
