Santa Chiara Caffe is going to open at 52-41 Center Boulevard in December according to a sign in the window. Located across the street from The Oval in Hunters Point South Park, in addition to coffee drinks the caffe will offer fresh-baked Italian pastries (pasticceria) featuring the Cornetto – a hybrid of a brioche and croissant with a choice of fillings including apricot, chocolate, & pistachio. Mm-mm pistachio.
That’s not all, there will also be homemade gelato. Will I ever be able to able to enjoy Mister Softee again? Anyway though they have a bevy of large windows overlooking the park and city skyline, the actual footprint looks to be fairly small. So don’t be surprised come mid-winter to see The Editor strolling the Via Del Centro with his Fabio-like mane blowing in the wind while sipping a macchiatto and nibbling a biscotti.
