Soft Swerve, which bills itself as ‘New York City’s whimsical soft serve ice cream shop,’ has opened in the JACX building at 28-17 Jackson Avenue. Strawberry Lychee, Matcha, Black Sesame and more.
Free Shakespeare is coming to LIC. More specifically, Hip to Hip Theatre Company makes their annual summer appearance in our neighborhood(s). Gantry Park gets The Tempest this Saturday, August 9, and Hamlet on August 16th. Socrates Sculpture Park gets Hamlet August 10 and The Tempest August 17th. To go, or not to go, that is the question. GO!
Finally, in the lose one gain one column, while Spokesman Cycles has closed shop and decamped to Brooklyn, we hear a new restaurant concept is coming in, brought to you by the next door neighbors at Dunkin Donuts…

RE: ONE LIC My name is Valentin Canuci I have been reading your column for more then a few years . I live at 10-43 47th road lic. I was at the Zoning meeting July 30 . I was the only small one family in the crowd. All others participants were Plaxall owner and 10 workers ,five special interest groups , Chinese secretaries and managers that were representing Chineese contractors and developers. On zoom people from Sunny Side were deciding the fate of our community. When the plan was put in motion in 2024 I emailed One Lic and called with no responses but finally they send a letter 6 days prior to first commissioner meeting which most home owners could not attend. (to be continued in Part 2)
THE QUESTION IS WHY THE ZONING CHANGE STOPPED 2 BLOCKS FROM MY STREET AND WHY IT DID NOT CONTINUE ALL THE WAY TO PULASKY BRIDGE . I BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO THE BOARD OF COMISSIONERS ,VICE CHAIRMEN AND CHAIRMAN . ALL THEY WERE NOT AWARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I IMPLORED THEM NOT TO BERUSH IN THEYR DECISION.
WE STILL HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME 14 DAYS TO EMAIL OUR GRIEVANCES
TO THE EDITOR : WE NEED OUR LIC COMMUNITY TO BE HEARD NOT SUNNY SIDE COMMUNITY IN THIS MATTER. ,WE LIVE HERE
