There’s a starman waiting in the sky
He’d like to come and meet us
But he thinks he’d blow our minds
After comprehensively collecting all the data, painstakingly putting it to paper while trying to figure out the complex instructions in order to conform to regulations, and finally staying up late into the night to meet the deadline, the yearly crush is now over! Oh I’m not talking about Tax Day, because here in LIC nothing strikes greater fear in a parents mind than the annual Science Project at PS78Q that each child …ahem, is required to produce.
Now that it’s passed we can focus on other happenings, which is a good thing because events must substitute for the paucity of news this week locally, unless you’re doing an in-depth expose on bathroom shortages or such.
//THERE’S stargazing in the Oval this Friday and next (April 20 & 27) from 7pm-9pm. It’s where they bring in telescopes and let you see stars in their natural habitat, their luxury condos – just like in LA. No, no, it’s about astronomy.
//THERE’S gardening and park clean-up at “Love my Park Day” at Gantry park on Saturday, May 5 from 9:30am – 2pm
//THERE’S Queens Beer Week, which begins with a kick-off party on May 12 at LIC Landing (tix and detes below)
//THERE’S Queens Taste 2018 on May 1 which features 60 restaurants and drinks vendors at The Hall of Science in Flushing-Corona Park all your for consumption for $125
//FINALLY there’s the Butcher Paper Dinners on the rooftop of Brooklyn Grange in LIC. Below are the dates/events, but these sell out very, very quickly so I suggest getting on their email list for the on-sale announcement.
LONG ISLAND CITY
(Sundays at 3pm)
//YOU still hungry for more and want a little real estate with your events? First off, here’s a newly listed renovated 3-br condo with a 700 sq ft terrace asking $1.85 mil in the heart of Hunters Point.
Secondly, we received an email advertising a 2,400 sq ft retail space at 46-32 Vernon Blvd being created (blown out) from what is now a residence. The broker didn’t reply when I requested the monthly rent, so for comparables I found a listing for the shuttered restaurant Tutti Matti on Vernon which is asking $12,500 a month. They’re also asking $400k in key money so maybe it’s not-so-comparable.
