IN perusing the local headlines every week, I regularly come across bot-generated stories about the stock price of a local business called iFresh. A typical headline might read “iFresh Inc. (IFMK) gains 1.7% For July 16” and the body would go on to give some basic daily trading stats and zero explanation for why it gained or why it’s even relevant.
We’ve discussed this company before and I always find it amusing to glance at these continual headlines – being flashed across the entire globe – knowing how pedestrian the headquarters located at 2-39 54th Avenue really is. Not that it doesn’t have a meaningful business, just that it punches above its weight when it comes to the press.
Of greater significance on the business front, comes the news that JetBlue has made the decision to keep its HQ here in LIC. This being a business whose headquarters are not pedestrian and whose operations truly are global and well-known, that is very good news. But strong dragon fruit sales are good too.
