Hold the presses, Montauk will have to wait because we’ve got hot news for Long Island City.
First off, a high-end cake bakery called Taste Creme will be opening at 13-11 Jackson Avenue, the former home of Pink Canary, on August 19 or thereabouts. It looks like it may be the first bricks and mortar location for what previously had been a Queens-based online business. According to Yelp, it seems to be run by a woman named Katrina, and delivers good-looking cakes that also taste good.
Second comes the news that the Hunters Point Library looks to be several steps closer to opening according to a tweet by Jimmy Van Bramer this evening. A librarian by the name of Euni Chang will be the manager and it is being stocked with 50,000 books as we speak write. The only thing holding this opening up is a timely groundbreaking ceremony, ughh.
Finally, no longer can Hunters Point lament not having a Chinese restaurant as Chairman Sun on Vernon Boulevard opened yesterday. No website or online menu, but you can see a live pick above.

August 14, 2019 at 8:42 pmLet’s continue talking about all the openings and closings of restaurants in our neighborhood because that’s all it has. Opportunities lost when Amazon was bullied away. When are we going to open our eyes that almost all of our politicians are god awful at their job?
