LIC’s version of Woodstock is coming to Court Square this August and September. The Daily News has fleshed out their story we linked to on Wednesday, and revealed that a combo music/film festival will be held on the empty lot across from Linc LIC this August and September. Thursday nights will be dedicated to movies, and Saturday to live music, so it’s really going to be more like a mash-up of Woodstock and Cannes. Combined with the Art Baselesque LIC Arts Open in May, it looks like I can mothball my G-5 until summer is over, as I can do all my celeb hobnobbing without having to leave home.
Don’t expect to hear Canned Heat and Country Joe & the Fish in Court Square, as this festival will be curated by the same promoters as Central Parks Summerstage Concert Series. Another 21st Century twist is that M. Wells will be selling booze and food at the venue, so maybe Coachella is a better analogy. Check that, I see capacity is only 190 people; please disregard my headline completely and just enjoy all the happenings about town this weekend.
