I would merely like to mention if I may
That our unanimous attitude
Is one of lasting gratitude
For what our friend has done for us today
And therefore I would simply like to say Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me
I may sound Double-Dutch
But my delight is such
I feel as if a losing war’s been won for me
GIVEN that we’re almost done with 2018 and the S&P 500 is nearly flat this year1, I’m going to keep my Christmas wish list modest, unlike in years past. In fact there’s only one item: renovate the pair of tattered basketball courts in Murray Park.
Repave, reline, replace current backboards with fiberglass ones that jut out another 1-2 feet from the fence to create a baseline that’s not abutting it That’s all, very simple and shoudn’t be expensive.
Currently they are in such a state of disrepair they are seldomly used, even in more temperate weather, and almost never used to play full court games. Yet despite their diminutive size they are actually ideal for recreational use, especially for kids. They are also centrally located, in a park quickly being surrounded by new residences. And since the availability of new park space is nil, the city really should optimize that which has been created.
In addition, judging by the wait time at the courts on 48th Avenue on summer days, there’s definitely enough demand – not to mention that which would be picked up by being so close to Court Square and Queensbridge.
So, given that it’s a City park, the ball’s in your court Santa.
//EMINENT domain and 25,000 toilets a flushin’, the Amazon news continues into the holiday season as both sides gird for battle. Yeah, you could read them and keep up to speed on LIC hurtling forward, but I’d prefer to trade commerce for art this time of year and recommend the inspirational story on famed sculptor Mark di Suvero and his founding of Socrates Sculpture Park. Because while it’s highly unlikely you’ll attain the wealth anything near that of Jeff Bezos, you can make your own contribution to this vibrant and ever-evolving neighborhood.
