Nothing sells copy like sex, thus the headline above. I’m not the only sensationalist journalist though, as similar headlines about this affair were scripted in England, France, and Australia. Yes, it is true, a female principal of a school in LIC allegedly did some naughty things on school property with multiple partners, but that high school is near LaGuardia CC and I doubt many of the readers in this rag would care. Nevertheless you know you want to see what she looks like, so click away on the link below before we start digging into all the other LIC news.
Closer to home, and considerably more relevant to many residents, there is an extensive interview with Tom and Fred, the TF in TF Cornerstone. If you are not familiar with the Elghanayan’s rise to fame and fortune, this will make a good read, and needless to say, these guys are no dummies. Unlike say, a certain high school principal. Also, we’ll cull for you the latest on their Hunters Point South plans:
“Meanwhile in Queens, if all goes as planned, TF Cornerstone will end up revitalizing yet another swath of now-industrial waterfront. The developer won the bid from the city to develop Hunters Point South, a mixed-use project with 1,200 residential units, in December. The residential component will be 66 percent affordable housing, but geared towards middle-income renters. It should overtake the 57th Street undertaking as the city’s largest building, upon completion. Construction is set to start in 2016 and will take about two years.”
While we’re on the subject of affordable housing, Mayor De Blasio unveiled his plans to bring lots more of it to the five boroughs. Great stuff …if you qualify. If you don’t, you can expect to contend with higher prices going forward, according to the next article. As lack of condo supply in LIC has caused condo prices to soar here, and thus has pushed people to look farther north in Astoria, causing those prices to rise too.
Finally, on Long Island City’s southern flank some changes are expected as well. As you know if you’ve been reading here, a huge development is planned in Greenpoint right across from Hunters Point South. That project is expected to break ground in 2015 and eventually have 5,500 apartments. Not too shabby, unlike the not-so-sexy high school principal.

But he probably won’t be collaborating with the artists who volunteered at the outdoor gallery.”
