“Year’s of federal and state disinvestment have led to deteriorating buildings, depriving tenants of the level of housing they deserve,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio.
“I want to thank Mayor de Blasio for making the great investment in improving the roofs in Queensbridge Houses,” said Assembly Member Catherine Nolan.
Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer added, “This is a welcome announcement to the residents of the Queensbridge Houses who have waited many years for the completion of these critical repairs.”

I couldn’t help but feel saddened frustrated regarding my idea to raze Queensbridge, when I read that the city is throwing $100 million into attacking the mold problem at our public housing projects.  A large portion of this money is earmarked for Queensbridge, as is $100 million that Albany is pitching in, and if that is not enough “the mayor announced that [Read more…] about LIC FOLLOW-UPS

In light of the local LIC school hubbub, focused around the almost sure death of the PS78 middle school, there have been a lot of suggestions going around on a large email chain as to how to secure more capacity/another school, and possibly stave off the elimination.
