Such a long, long time to be gone
And a short time to be there
MY favorite week in NYC is upon us. On the platform at VJ this morning is a foreign family (British, I presume) in tracksuits, ready to tour the city before they run the city on Sunday, as well as a smattering of costumed commuters. When I get to midtown there’s many more of the same motley mix. Motley only if you’re not from NYC. And the weather, need I say more?((random disclosure about global warming))
No, other than to add that if you are not at the starting line on Sunday, make sure to at least move your body to Vernon Boulevard Sunday morning. Even lazy-heads should be able to get there while the clock is at AM given the clocks being pushed back an hour.
//As for Halloween, it’s somewhat ironic that the demolition of the Paragon Paint Building began in October. In previous years it had been used as a haunted house on Halloween, as well as sporting Halloween murals all year round on it’s exterior painted by the crew at 5Pointz. Or maybe I’m just Father Time reminiscing…
//Halloween Day also brings the end of the LIC Corner Cafe at the south east corner of Murray Park after 9 years. Exactly two years ago LIC lost a local celebrity right before Marathon Sunday who spent time foaming lattes at this neighborhood cafe. Does the imminent opening of Starbucks on Vernon Boulevard act as a salve for coffee fans? Probably not.
