Jimmy Van Bramer announced this morning that he is dropping out of the Queens Borough President’s race citing family reasons according to his twitter feed. In the announcement, he specifically mentioned his duties as a son and brother.
Van Bramer was one of eight contestants vying for the interim position to replace Melinda Katz, who became the Queens Attorney General in November. The election is scheduled for March 24, and Van Bramer had a lot of momentum and name recognition, making him one of the front-runners. It was also to be a quasi-referendum for his anti-Amazon stance, giving the race a greater interest than it typically would have had, leaving local residents to ponder how they will spend all their free time once the Super Bowl ends.
What does this mean for his political future? He aggressively flip flopped on wanting Amazon in LIC after AOC was elected and now he’s backing out of this race. Just curious because he seems to always be in the spotlight and I disagreed with his anti-Amazon stance.
See ya Jimmy!!!!!!!
#Amazon
Now he will have time for senseless photo ops. That’s all he was good for.
There’s no way this is the end of the line for Jimmy. He’s an opportunist. Watch what happens.
The winner of the March 24th election is only a temporary fill in job. JVB can run for BP again in the June 23 primary but he should probably not.
Is there any possibility Amazon works out a deal and partners with the local community to come back? What’s the likelihood % wise?
