DO you know what percent of applicants get into Stanvard? The answer, 3.2%, is significantly higher than the percent of kids in LIC that secure a place in the Gantry Park Easter Egg Hunt each year. Maybe that’s not a bad thing, as the rejection builds up resilience beginning with the 2-3 year old category as they see a select genus group of their peers gain entry and partake in the excitement, pageantry and riches of the hunt.
While you are not necessarily a bad parent if your child does not secure entry into the hunt, you’re not a very good one either. There have been whispers that children who do enter the golden zone, have parents that fully planned accordingly by mobilizing extended family members, work subordinates, and the full force of the Tri-Delt alumni network. What extraordinary steps did you take to advance your childs career cause?
‘So what?’ you say, if your crawler misses out on the hunt in a given year, there’s always next year? That’s the spirit, “There’s always next year.” And 364 days of waking up in the middle of the night with nightmarish visions of your child standing on the other side of the velvet rope watching the hunt. With a single tear in their eye evoked not from missing out on the merriment, but from the innate realization that their fate has been sealed. I guess that’s good prep for when those college rejections start coming in.
Registration for the 2024 Egg Hunt in Long Island City opens up at 3pm on March 24, and the Easter Festival & Egg Hunt is on Saturday, March 30 ~10am-Noon.

March 15, 2024 at 1:10 pmNot much of a “hunt” when the eggs are just scattered all over the lawn. More like a frenzied gathering.
