MANGO Mango Desserts is coming to 47-43 Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City this summer. Per the name, this mini-chain fuses the sweet soups in traditional Hong Kong style with modern desserts.
Offerings include ‘The Classic Dessert,’ real mango blended into juice served with sago and asian grapefruit; Traditional Style Hong Kong Sweet Soup using almond, sesame, longan, yams & more; ice creams with flavors like mango, coconut, green tea, and durian; crepes & waffles; and specialty teas, drinks, and smoothies.
Mango Mango was started in Chinatown in 2013 and has since expanded to 30 stores in a dozen states (Iowa franchise still available). Thus though Vernon Blvd lost one Asian ice cream store and one ice cream franchise in the past two years, life springs eternal, at least when it comes to ice cream.
//COLDPLAY rocked LIC last night, and man was it a night. The perfect weather, the perfectly sized crowds, and the understanding by the band that ‘Hey, these people deserve more than a soundcheck,’ added up to a great start for summer 2021 in Long Island City. Keeping the ball rolling, Trader Joe’s LIC opens one week from today, but those crowds may not be perfectly sized.
