THE last day of school, sweeter words have never been spoken. In tandem with that comes the news that the Gantry Plaza State Park Sports Field has reopened after a major renovation. There is ‘Open Play’ for everyone at all times through July 8.
Beginning Sunday 7/9/2023 through September 2, permits will be assigned through an accelerated lottery process. Applications should be submitted to Kevin Selig (kevin.selig@parks.ny.gov) and Lillian Lee (Lillian.lee@parks.ny.gov) by Sunday 7/2/2023 to be accepted into the permit lottery for the summer season.
//Ja Rule, LL Cool J, The Roots, Ashanti, Bebe Rexha, and more have been announced as the entertainment for the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration. I don’t know if they’ll (all) be doing a performance here in LIC for taping as they have in years past, but if I were to guess it will probably be this Thursday or Friday at sunset on The Oval if they do.
