Or is it ‘shoppe?’ Either way, an ice cream themed venue is coming to the space previously occupied by Delta Force Army & Navy according to one of the workers onsite today. Just this week construction began and the windows were papered up. Given the prime location, expect one dollar from every cone to be going to the landlord, and it’ll take a lot of cones to keep him sated. Better hope for a summer opening. Mm-mm.
//On the subject of summer and indulgences, while the Butcher Paper Dinner Series is now completely sold out for this year, another unusual local gala is still available. It’s called Secret Summer NYC, and it’s a six-hour ‘Gatsbyesque’ boozathon in The Foundry. Given the mix of artisanal cocktails, costumes, daytime drinking, and gorgeous setting, I imagine a lot of hooking up goes on, but you’ll have to find out for yourself.

May 24, 2016 at 6:31 pmI guess we can expect this ice cream shop to close in 2 years like others did in the neighborhood.

May 25, 2016 at 12:41 pmThe owner of this store said he wanted to make sure he rented it to the right business, one that will be beneficial to the neighborhood. Not sure an ice cream shop is the correct choice. Plus the 2 prior ice cream shops that were in the neighborhood closed within 2 years after they opened, Malu and Uncle Luigi and Malu’s ice cream was pretty good. Hope it will be much more than just ice cream, guess we will have to wait and see if this one will survive. Good luck!

May 27, 2016 at 8:48 amIf it’s “real” ice cream consumed in the rest of America (Steve’s, Ben and Jerry’s), instead of overpriced puffed-up frou frou pretentious BS artisinal yuppie ice cream, then the place will do just fine. Please, give me attitude-free ice cream that won’t make me go broke, and I’m there.

May 27, 2016 at 11:22 amThis store was leased in 3 weeks the owner never responded to my phone calls or any of my associates phone calls, Thats how fast it went. Prime dollar YES indeed and WAY WAY more then the asking price per sq foot of Paris Health accross the street.

May 27, 2016 at 12:31 pmWell if the rent is that high then the ice cream price will be too! they will need to sell a lot of ice cream to cover the rent and other expense. Summer and hot weather will help sales but once it get cold out the demand for ice cream drops.

May 29, 2016 at 4:32 pmThey’ll never make it on ice cream alone. The owner is a joke if he thinks that this is something which will benefit the community and neighborhood.
Something much better could have gone in here but he wanted no involvement with local brokers / agents alike.
