MOTHER Nature LICtalk has declared that Spring Has Sprung in 2022 here in Long Island City. We are also happy to declare that the Gantry Plaza Easter Egg Hunt is back on for 2022. No, we don’t really make these proclamations, no more so than The Wizard of Oz could assist Dorothy in getting back to Kansas.
Yet ‘The Wizard’ almost did get Dorothy back home, were it not for her restless dog Toto. Who despite his poorly-timed scampering would go on to lend his name to a band that sung the 80’s super-hit ‘Rosanna,’ which won the Grammy award in 1983 for ‘Record of The Year’ despite a cloying melody whose cringe-inducing was only exceeded by its cheesy lyrics. That’s because as we all know and have viewed a multitude of times, Dorothy really had the power to get back home all on her own, but she needed to find that out for herself. And if Dorothy can do it so can I: Spring Has Sprung LIC!
