IT was a long 2021, and then it became 2022 and soon after came the opening of Sami’s Kabab House at 47-38 Vernon Boulevard. Originally scheduled to open over the summer, it is actually the second location in LIC, the other being north of the bridge on Crescent Street.

Sami's Kabab House Vernon Boulevard — you say Afghan, I say Afghani, but no ice cream

THERE I was, deep in the Hindu Kush, when the fragrance of roasting lamb wafted over the valley where we were bivouacing. That valley was Vernon Boulevard, or soon will be, when Sami’s Kabab House arrives. Sami’s specializes in Afghan cuisine, and currently has a restaurant north of the bridge on Crescent Street in an area I refer to as Long Island City but The New York Times says is Astoria – you decide who’s right.
