I CANNOT BE EMPHATIC ENOUGH, for those who qualify the affordable housing lottery at 52-03 Center Boulevard is the best real estate deal in LIC NYC! If you need further proof take a look at an article in this weekend’s New York Times titled “Exploring Affordable Housing Options In Brooklyn & Queens. Which Home Would You Choose?” In it a couple from Brooklyn explore three affordable options and then have a bake-off. Which option did they choose?
Oh c’mon, it was a blowout: “The couple chose Long Island City, happy with the location on the waterfront.” and finally ““All our friends say this is such an upgrade,” Ms. Chen said. “I don’t think I’ll feel the urge to look elsewhere for a long time.””
The best deal in NYC for sure, but you only have until August 16 to submit your application and the detailed financial information required, so get cracking. As for those who don’t fall within the ‘affordable’ parameters, a new study this week claims the rental market continues to be soft for exactly the reason I cited: supply, and that’s despite the recent considerable uptick in demand. I think the softness will continue for another year or two at least.
//Manhattan Henge Returns This Weekend – for those unfamiliar, the Gantries were created around 1900 AD by an ancient people to please the gods of fertility. Rumor has it they would all gather there twice a summer when the sun aligned perfectly with the Isle of Mannahatta to unleash their carnal desires.
No? Ok well then per the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy “The $2 million project to repair a section of shoreline at Gantry Plaza State Park which began in the late fall of 2020 has been completed and the area has now reopened to the public. The project’s purpose was to repair the revetment, the sloping structure that protects the riverbank, which had eroded over time due to over 20 years of tidal action from the East River. Some additional repairs were made to some shoreline areas damaged during Superstorm Sandy, as well as to a pier damaged by fireworks last year. The floating dock in the park was also rebuilt.”
So at least the modern-day photo-worshippers will be able to use the bridge to take pics of round 2 of Manhattan Henge.
