CAVIAR, now we’re talking LIC. Enough with the burgers and BBQ, pizza and ramen, it’s about time this ‘hood upped its game on the sophistication scale. The Caviar Vault has opened in Long Island City according to The New York Times. Located in the midst of an industrial stretch of Dutch Kills at 38-15 24th Street, the tasting room will host tasting and caviar seminars for small groups Monday through Friday at 4pm, which can be booked on their website.
The Caviar Vault is owned by the founders of Paramount Caviar, a local importer and distributor of fine caviar since 1991. Check out there whole story below, definitely a worthy addition to LIC.
//A shout out to ‘The Great Long Meadow Fire’ who put on a great show at Culture Lab this past Saturday. I happened upon the band while watching soccer players on the Gantry field as notes drifted over from the northeast. Those notes sounded pretty darn good so I decided to mosey on over from whence they came. Lo and behold, there was an olde timey, or in this case Olde Americana, brass band putting out some pretty good music. No wait, make that really good music. Better grab a beer and sit down, live music like this doesn’t come along every day.
But in some ways it does, if you seek it out. No guarantees that it’ll be great or even listenable, but the folks at Culture Lab do a pretty good job of curating in my opinion, and sometimes magic just happens and you’re either there or you’re not.
Live music will continue throughout October on Fri/Sat/Sun, including JazzFest LIC this Sunday, October 8 from 2pm to 9pm.
